Ok... mistake? HELLLLLPPPPP!

I am a little worried and want to ask opinions of those already in NU. I am allowed 6000lbs to bring with me... I ordered a sealift... do I need a sealift or should I be okay getting food, diapers, papered goods and all of my household supplies here and including it within my 6000lbs??? HELP! I am bringing all furniture including the baby's bedroom, toys and books, all kitchen and bedroom items and all general household items - i.e. towels, dishes, pots and pans, microwaves, clothing, blankets etcetcetc... DESPERATLY NEEDING THOUGHTS ASAP...

  1. 6000 lbs is alot. You should see what the moving company is going to allow you to bring. Many of them have weird rules about liquids, and food items, even things like toothpaste. You may want to pare back your sealift and bring what you can with you if you have room.

And don't forget, if you for any reason don't fulfill your contract with the government, you're going to be on the hook for moving all that stuff back at your own expense. I know you plan to stay but you just never know, the north isn't for everyone. I don't want to be a pessemist but I've seen a few people just not be able to hack it and end up selling everything they own just to be able to afford to get home again.

  2. Also, I am not sure if the government will move your 6000lbs out again!! Make sure you check into that before you bring up everything.

Our moving company was the same- no liquids, no cleaning supplies, no food.... pain in the butt!!
